What is the difference between climate change and global warming?
Global warming refers to the change in the average earth's temperature due to the increase of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. However, climate change can encompass global warming and other changes earth's experiences like ocean acidification.
Why is climate change important?
Climate change is important because it can impact all existing life forms, which can have a significant impact on the survival and progress of our species as humans. If not a global catastrophic risk, climate change can impose countless uncertainties on our future.
How pollution and global warming are affecting nature?
All the current life we have on earth has adapted to living in certain climate conditions. The currently occurring climate change can change the climate to one current life forms not used to, which can threaten their survival. This is a similar concept to moving a tropical animal to Antarctica, which has a different climate than the tropics. The change of the surrounding climate can threaten the survival of that animal.
What are the facts of climate change?
Most of the facts behind climate change and global warming are measurable data. Those include data on the averages earth's temperatures, data on historical changes of greenhouse gas concentrations, data on oceans' acidity, and others. We explore many of those data in the course.
